Paintball Central Hosts First Scenario Game

Paintball Central, one of the longest-standing and most respected paintball playing parks in the southeast, hosted their very first scenario game November 24, 2007 at their Greensboro, North Carolina facility. PBC's field staff worked tirelessly in the weeks and months leading up to the game to complete a massive upgrade to the wooded portions of the park, building impressive, multi-story forts, earthworks and bunkers that transformed the park from a solid all-around paintball field to a bona-fide scenario destination.

Nearly 100 players of all skill levels converged on the park on the cool, crisp weekend after Thanksgiving to participate in the game, which was based loosely on the wildly successful "HALO" trilogy of XBox video games. A Red team of "Covenant" aliens, led by general Larry Motes, promotoer of the CFOA Tournament Series, would face off against the Blue team, the Earth Marines, led by longtime professional paintball player Tyler Humphrey of 2005 World Champions Baltimore Trauma.

Due in no small part to Humphrey's fame in the region, numerous members of local paintball teams, including Baltimore Trauma teammates and members of other tournament teams including PSP XBall team Carolina Gridlock and 2007 CFOA champions, Raiden, signed up to play on the Blue team, giving them a tangible advantage in experience.

Almost immediately, the Blue team went on the offensive and began completing missions, capturing objectives including key points on the field, and generally pushing the Red team back into the portion of the field surrounding their base. Though several pushes were mounted along both sides of the field by the Red team, they were never able to force their way up the increasingly steep slope to the heavily fortified trenchworks of the Blue base, though they did manage to apply pressure to the base one time before being pushed back, while the Blue team was able to push all the way down the hill and surround the Blue base at least twice, culminating in its capture as the game broke for a late lunch.

After the late lunch break, the final battle gave the Red team a chance to defend the hill-top base that had been the Blue headquarters throughout the day. The Blue team was no more successful in taking the hill than the Red team had been earlier in the day, giving the final battle to the Covenant. However, a victory in this battle was not enough to win the war for the Red team, giving the first-ever scenario game at Paintball Central to Tyler Humphrey and his Blue team.
