Paintball's Beginnings
All things, even paintball, have to start somewhere, and paintball began in the early nineteen-eighties in the woods of New Hampshire, conceived by Bob Gurnsey, Charles Gaines and Hayes Noel. Their first game was a success, and the industry they proceeded to build became the game and sport of today.

Pump Paintball Guns
As the fledgeling game of paintball grew from a dozen players to a few dozen players, then to a few hundred and more, players began searching for a better way to re-cock their bolt-action, single-shot pistols, a way that wouldn't bloody their knuckles. A few ingenious players crafted rudimentary pump handles for their guns, and the paintball gun industry experienced its first of many evolutions.

Semi-Automatic Paintball Guns
Finding new ways to shoot faster than the other guy is the American way, and paintball is no exception. In the late eighties a company called Tippmann, searching for a new identity, blasted into paintball and released the first semi-automatic and fully-automatic paintball gun, the SMG-60. As pump players found themselves outgunned and re-armed, the industry evolved for the second time.

Electronic Paintball Guns
One day someone looked around and decided shooting seven and eight paintballs per second just wasn't enough, and, again, began looking for a way to increase rates of fire and overall performance of their paintball gun. A few wires, batteries, solenoids and switches later, the electropneumatic paintball gun was born, every pro had to have one, and the rest is...well...history. Look around, you're living it.
