Smart Corps Wins SPPL 2007

The Smart Corps Factory Team has earned the rank of Scenario Players Paintball League Champions for the second consecutive season.

Loyalhanna , PA – October 17, 2007 – Just completing its third season of competition with finals in Wyandotte , OK , the Scenario Player's Paintball League has become the premiere battleground for paintball teams to test their mettle in a scenario style competition.

The SPPL game format involves hour long games with teams fighting for control of not one flag, but of three bases. Additional objectives can be captured which can give teams a tactical advantage by instantly resurrecting eliminated players, calling in airstrikes or obtaining intelligence via the referees.

The Smart Corps Factory Team, consisting of employees working in Smart Parts' Pennsylvania office and factory, has not only risen to the top in the SPPL, they have had a great time doing it.

While several team members have played tournament paintball in years gone by – when big national tournaments were still played in the woods – most of their games today, consist of taking a break for some walk-on games at the All-American Paintball Park .

“You have to realize that we play the SPPL because we love the woods, love the format, love the stand up play, and love the sportsmanship,” said team member Sean Scott, a Smart Parts dealer sales representative. “We are pretty much rec ball players, since the only competitive league we play in is the SPPL,” Scott continued, noting that the team has seen their participation in the league as a chance to help grow the teams they have been playing alongside. “This year, the day before the finals, Smart Corps member Darryl Trent put on a free player's clinic where were more than sixty players received tips and guidance to improve their playing skills.”

The SPPL finals also served as a trial by fire for Smart Parts new SP-1 Tactical Marker. Smart Parts president Bill Gardner, Jr. found it no surprise that the new marker was up to the task.

“If you look at what the winning teams are shooting in professional tournaments, you'll find Smart Parts markers more than any other brand. I'm excited to say that our new SP-1 has become a part of that tradition.”

The compact milsim-oriented electropneumatic paintball marker will have its official public debut at the 2007 PSP Paintball World Cup.

Smart Corps Teams Impact the World Challenge!

The teams of the Smart Corps helped earn a hard won victory at this year's Vforce Tippmann Challenge in Michigan.

Loyalhanna, PA – September 27, 2007
Hell Survivors in Pinkney, Michigan is one of the oldest paintball fields in the United States, and in recent years it has been the annual home to the VForce Tippmann World Challenge game.  This year the event was held on the weekend of September 22nd and 23rd.  The World Challenge pits one massive team of players armed with Tippmann products against “the World” - a team of players using all brands of imaginable markers.  This year things were different.  “The World” included Smart Corps scenario teams equipped with markers and accessories from Smart Parts.

Acting as generals of the World team were Smart Corps Factory Team member, Sean Scott and Grassy Knoll Gunmen teammate, George Moschgat. Based out of Jennerstown, PA the Grassy Knoll Gunmen are one the fourteen teams that make up the Smart Corps Tactical Squads, Smart Parts sponsored scenario paintball teams.  Also playing for the World were more members of the Grassy Knoll Gunmen as well as Smart Parts industrial designer, Dan Kanitz, sales staff member Dave Brewer, and Mike Tarasan who was on hand to supply Smart Parts technical support. The World team's combined firepower, ultimately provided an edge on the field.

At the start of play on Saturday, the Tippmann side of the field hosted 573 players to World's numbers of just 353 players.  Tippmann's advantage in manpower gave them the ability to secure more bases over a broader area, but by directing forces to critical choke points, the World team was able to control field insertion points and eliminate Tippmann players very quickly as they returned to play.  By Sunday morning, Tippmann's forces had dwindled to  472 players while the World team gained a few players, but still remained the underdog in manpower with 369 players for the day.

“A lot of people don't realize how powerful strategy and communication are in a big game or scenario,” said Sean Scott, “but in this last year, playing with the Smart Corps Factory Team along side the other Smart Corps teams, I've learned a lot about communication at the force level, not just within a squad.  Getting hundreds of people to move in coordination is the key to success – that and knowing they've got the gear it takes to get the job done.”

By the end of the game's first quarter, the World team was ahead 605 points.  In the second quarter, they raised the bar with a whopping 3404 points with the use of simulated bombing runs and grenades.  On Sunday, the second day of action, the teams split their insertion points and bases evenly for a fresh, balanced start to the new day.  Team Tippmann was able to gain 32 points.  However, this balancing did not last to the fourth and final quarter.  Once again, World was significantly ahead with another 780 points.

In the past several years, Team Tippmann has remained undefeated, winning the Tippmann World Challenge, but this year, World has taken back the title with a victory of 4757 points to their credit.

Smart Parts and the teams and players of the Smart Corps would like to congratulate all of the players for a game well run and look forward to being a part of the World team next fall.

Smart Parts Press Release
Smart Corps wins SPPL Michigan Qualifier

SPPL league champions from 2006 are victorious at the Michigan Qualifier and are ready for the finals in Oklahoma.

Loyalhanna, PA – August 21, 2007 –
Smart Corps, the Smart Parts tactical factory team won the first ever SPPL national scenario championship last year and is aiming for it again in 2007.  A highly placed finish at an SPPL qualifying event is required for the chance to compete in the National finals which will be held this October in Oklahoma.

The SPPL (Scenario Paintball Players League) saw 16 teams at the Michigan Qualifier held August 18-19th at Hell Survivors field in Pickney, Michigan.  Sorted into four divisions of four teams, the preliminary games started on Saturday under sunny skies and 70 degree temperatures.  After winning each of their matches on Saturday, the Smart Corps team geared up for the third round of prelims on Sunday morning and took to the field.

Sunday did not have the luxurious weather that Saturday had seen, instead a fine rain fell during the whole day of play, soaking fields and players alike.  However, for crawlers on the Tippmann field, the critical brush pile was much easier to get through as the constant sound of raindrops drowned out the noise of rustling twigs and leaves.

The hallmark of the SPPL has always been the call to good sportsmanship and this event was no different.  Sean Scott of the Smart Corps team mentioned, “This event had the best sportsmanship I've seen in 12 years of playing paintball.”  While Smart Corps has team members from out of state, most of the players are from Pennsylvania and enjoyed the chance to play against teams from the midwest.  The team noted that this event was the best competition they'd yet faced in the SPPL.

Wrapping up their three preliminary games, Smart Corps headed into the quarter final round, playing and winning against Failure to Flatline, a team who demonstrated their good sportsmanship by loaning loaders to some of the Smart Corps team members.  After winning their quarter and the semi-final round, Smart Corps went into the final match up with Great Lake Rangers.  After an hour of play, wet gear and even soggier players, Smart Corps retained their unbeatable status and headed home, qualified to play in the national finals in October at D-Day Adventure Park in Wyandotte, OK.

Smart Parts is able to develop products that meet the needs of today's paintball players for one simple reason - we play paintball – all kinds of paintball - from winning national professional tournaments to the challenge of scenario games deep in the woods or even on the weekend just for fun at our factory field. We build equipment that improves our game, and we don't charge an arm and a leg for it, because we believe that equipment counts.

Lexington, North Carolina
August 17, 2007:
Pacific Concepts, makers of the new Advanced Tactical Camera, have joined the rapidly growing CFOA family with an agreement to sponsor the league for the remainder of the 2007 season. The already-rich CFOA prize package will now grow even larger, with the addition of Advanced Tactical Cameras to be awarded to a top team at an upcoming league event.

"With players constantly looking for new ways to train harder, hone their skills and become winners, the many applications of the Advanced Tactical Camera in paintball are obvious," said CFOA Marketing Director Joshua D. Silverman. "Whether tactical scenario players or tournament paintball athletes, the ability to lock the Advanced Tactical Camera onto a paintball gun's barrel, go play, then watch what went right, what went wrong and learn what needs to be improved is an invaluable tool for any player."

Produced and distributed by Pacific Concepts, the Advanced Tactical Camera is a small, light and durable electronic color video camera which mounts easily onto the barrel of any paintball gun with included hardware. Operating on AA batteries, waterproof, armored and shock resistant, the Advanced Tactical Camera was created to operate under the intense conditions of tactical law enforcement situations such as SWAT operations, ATV patrols, riot control and cell extractions, but was immediately recognized as a simple but effective addition to any paintball player's gear. Sold with all the necessary hardware to connect the camera to a television or computer, the Advanced Tactical Camera uses digital memory cards to record color video and sound for up to an hour. Weighing only seven ounces, the small, light camera will not slow any player down, or adversely affect their play on the field. Scottish Warriors Stand By Smart Parts!

Europe's Top Scenario Team stays with the marker that brought them victory.

Loyalhanna, PA – April 13, 2007
Scotland's Paintball Elite, the Scottish Warriors have been playing scenario paintball in Europe for several years now, and risen to prominence in the 2006 season.

When a team can play through a full season earning win after win, they get noticed, and team captain Tony Lindsay was able to work out a team sponsorship with Philip Webb, director of Smart Parts Europe. “Supporting the Scottish Warriors was a natural move for us,” said Webb, “it is not just about winning events either.  The whole team carries an enthusiasm for having fun and getting new players more involved in scenario paintball.”

With their trademark black tactical gear, the Warriors adopted the Smart Parts SP-8 as their team marker in 2006, shooting through various models of Smart Parts barrels and powered by Max Flo Micro compressed air systems.  For the team, this equipment trio has proven very effective.  The SP-8 gives them the high rates of fire, accuracy and whisper quiet operation that only come from a true electropneumatic marker.  At the same time it provides them the stability and accessory mounting capabilities that are critical in a tactical paintball environment.

On the field, the Warriors have made their presence known as the right team with the right equipment, so much so that PBUK in association with Extreme Sports named them "Team of the Year 2006," selected by vote of British paintball players. Smart Parts and The Scottish Warriors have renewed their partnership for the 2007 season and expect more successes in their future together.  When asked about the team's goals, Lindsay responded, “We'd like to do the best for our sponsors... then take over the world.”

The Scottish Warriors can be contacted through their Internet forum at www.scottishwarriors.co.uk.

Tippmann Sponsors the CFOA!

Lexington , North Carolina
Thursday, March 15, 2007: Tippmann Sports, one of the most respected names in the paintball industry and producer of the most reliable and durable line of paintball guns in the history of the sport have reached an agreement with Joshua D. Silverman to sponsor the CFOA tournament series. The multi-year agreement reached between Tippmann Sports and the CFOA brings the versatile new X7 marker into the much-anticipated CFOA Tactical Ten-Man Division as a top prize.

“It's a huge honor for a legendary company like Tippmann, so instrumental in shaping the game we play, to join the CFOA family,” said an ecstatic Joshua D. Silverman, Director of league Marketing and Sponsorship when the agreement was reached. “We're excited about the Tactical Ten-Man format for the new season and we're extremely happy that Tippmann is as excited as we are. It makes me want to dust off my SMG-60, stripper clips and twenty-ounce siphon tank and find a team to play with myself!”

In late 2006, Tippmann Sports followed up on the success of the success of their 98 Custom and A5 models by joining forces with Special Ops to release the most upgradeable scenario paintball weapon ever produced, the X7. Standard with a long list of features from semiautomatic firepower to sight rails and an upgraded Cyclone Feed System, the X7 can be extensively upgraded and modified with factory accessories produced and marketed by Tippmann and Special Ops to create the ultimate scenario marker. Available accessories include the Tippmann Flatline back-spin barrel, double triggers, reactive trigger kits and bolt-on parts transforming the X7 into an M4/M16, AK-47, G36 or MP5 look-a-like. Players are invited to build their own custom X7 at either www.tippmann.com or www.specialopspaintball.com or at their local paintball pro-shop.

“Tippmann is excited to support the CFOA's Tactical Ten-Man events,” stated Erich Garbers, Promotions Manager of Tippmann Sports. “Through our support of events like the SPPL and CFOA Tactical Ten-Man Division, Tippmann aims to bring attention and respect back to paintball's roots in the form of competitive woodsball!”

The largest producer of five-man paintball tournaments in the world, the CFOA 2007 Queen City Masters drew a staggering 132 five-man teams to become the largest event in league history, then promptly shattered that record with a whopping 145 teams at the Dixie Cup near Atlanta. For 2007 the CFOA will produce five-man beginner, rookie and novice events, Division 2 and Division 3 XBall tournaments and, new for 2007, Tactical Ten-Man scenario competitions in cooperation with the SPPL. Hosted as some of the most popular scenario and woodsball venues in the Southeast region, excitement is high as preparation is already underway for the 2007 CFOA Tactical season! Smart Parts Releases New Barrel Fronts

The Freak Tactical Front brings bore to paint matching performance to the scenario realm while the Rain Front keeps the barrel interior dry.

Loyalhanna, PA – February 16, 2007 – Smart Parts, Inc., is proud to announce the latest additions to The Freak barrel product line. In the world of paintball, The Freak is unparalleled.  Not only is it a complete multi-part barrel system which can adapt to paintballs of varying diameters and different marker threads, but it can also quickly change style, accepting any one of Smart Parts' threaded barrel fronts. Since its 2006 release, the Smart Parts Tactical barrel for Smart Parts, Tippmann 98, Spyder and Spyder M series markers has been a smash hit in the woods.

At a whopping 20 inches in length the tactical barrel blends ultra-quiet straight line porting with a milsim styled muzzle brake, all of which is coated in Smart Parts' hard anodized, lubricating finish.  The barrel's exterior is matte textured for maximum player concealment. Now the Freak Tactical Front brings the styling and stealth of the Tactical Barrel to the paint and bore matching performance of the Freak.  Freak Tactical Fronts are available to combine with Freak or Freak Jr. backs in overall lengths of 16 or 20 inches. For the serious paintball player, a little rain never gets in the way of a good game, but it can get in the way of accuracy.  As raindrops hit a barrel, they can splash inside through barrel ports.  Water in the barrel can lead to reduced accuracy, wild hook shots and even barrel breaks.

The new Freak Rain Front is an All American style (slender wall, mirror honed hard anodized finish) barrel front without any porting.  Specifically designed for use on days with rain or heavy condensing mist, this new barrel front eliminates the need for taping or covering barrel ports on rain days – its solid high-grade aluminum construction keeps water out of the bore. Smart Parts, Inc., is a leading developer and manufacturer of equipment and accessories for the sport of paintball.  For more information, visit www.SmartParts.com.

“With the Brigade, we have created the coolest free thing in paintball, period,” said Chris Serfustini, Director of Public Relations for Special Ops Paintball. “I would have killed for something like this 20 years ago when I started playing. Today, the internet makes it possible to connect over 100,000 paintball players across the world, where they can share game experiences, playing tips, and, most importantly their love of the sport.”

“Unlike most sports, in paintball it's ‘the more the merrier,'” quips Special Ops Co-Founder Jayson Orvis.  “My favorite form of play is to grab my gear bag and drop by one of the Game Locator games going on all over Salt Lake City on any given Saturday.  This easy-going and informal side of the sport harkens back to the early days when I played as a kid.  The Brigade really puts the fun back into the sport by turning the reins over to the players who really know how to have a good time (and not take it too seriously!)”

The Special Ops Brigade benefits members by allowing them to:

*Organize games through Game Locator.  During the prime paintball season, there are over 400 Game Locator games going on all over the U.S. and Canada .  Currently, over 11,000 Game Locator games have been played.  This is, without a doubt, the best way to organize a game or to simply jump in and play

* Create an online personality. Brigade members start by creating a Brigade account, where they build a personal profile that includes their location, specialties, interests, and more.

* Meet other players. Players can invite and connect with buddies, as well as search for members based on profile information to find new friends within the sport.

* Win free stuff and incredible paintball play opportunities. The higher the player's rank, the better the benefits including free stuff from the Special Ops store as well as amazing paintball opportunities such as invitational events like the Special Ops Elite Weekends.

* Log their experiences online. Players can create a play log to keep track of their game experience; stats and graphs let them chart their progress.

* Discover what's new. Through the forum and email, players learn about exciting new gear, events, games and strategies.

* Be heard. Players can post opinions, questions, and advice in community-wide discussion forums.

Special Ops Partners with the CFOA!
The CFOA, the world's largest producer of five-man paintball tournaments, and Special Ops, manufacturers of top quality, innovative accessories and weapon systems for the world of tactical paintball, announced a sponsorship agreement has been reached between the two companies today. An influential company in the scenario paintball marketplace, Special Ops prizes will be offered by the CFOA at their new "Tactical Ten-Man" scenario-based competitions set to begin in late 2007.

Inspired in-part by the success of the SPPL scenario competition concept, the CFOA set out to create a scenario tournament series of their own in late 2006, a decision that led to the creation of 2007's "Tactical Ten-Man" division. Working in affiliation with the SPPL to grow the scenario tournament concept nation and world-wide, the CFOA will collaborate with Special Ops on all aspects of woodsball competition in an effort to further legitimize the format, which encourages fun, sportsmanship and honor.

"I've loved the Special Ops product line ever since their gear hit the market," CFOA Sponsorship Director Joshua D. Silverman said, "but it took a while for us to figure out how to get them into the CFOA. Now that the league is reaching out to scenario and recreational players and teams in our region and working with the SPPL to do so, a partnership between the series and Special Ops is a perfect fit!"

Rory McCarthy of Special Ops agreed as he said, "Special Ops Paintball and the SPPL are excited to be a part of the finest and fastest growing regional tournament series in competitive paintball. We feel this relationship will yield mutual benefit through shared experience, promotion and competition of both the companies and players in both leagues."

Promoting five-man tournaments since 1999 and, since last year, X-Ball events as well, the CFOA averaged 110 teams at league events in 2006. With events placed at the very best paintball park facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee and players from as far away as Australia, the CFOA continues to offer intense yet family-friendly competition for players of all skill levels throughout the southeastern United States. A full schedule of events, registration information, prize and sponsor lists and more are available from the official league website at www.thecfoa.com .

Special Ops, manufacturers and resellers of all things woodsball, have redefined recreational and tactical paintball in the United States since their entry into the marketplace. From vests and performance clothing to Tippmann upgrades to transform a paintball gun into a true scenario weapon, Special Ops offers every product a player in the woods could ever need. The driving force behind the SPPL scenario paintball league, Special Ops provides players of all skill levels both the means and opportunity to enjoy the game of paintball in its purest and original form. Dollack Draws Over 2000 to Grand Finale!
Early December, 2005 saw the creator of the scenario game format, Wayne Dollack, host the Grand Finale scenario game at his home base, Wayne's World of Paintball, in Ocala, Florida. Over TWO THOUSAND players came to the newly remodelled Wayne's World facility to face off in "Vengeance of the Sith," a game based upon Episode 3 of the Star Wars trilogy. Kerry "Viper" Rosenberry led the Sith to an impressive victory over "Jammer" and his Jedi team.

As impressive as the larger-than-ever attendance of this game was the massive prize package, which contained over 150 paintball guns of all types, from Icons and Tippmanns to the hot new Smart Parts SP-8! For the first time, Dollack contracted the event's air services to Paintball Central and company, the same organization that handled air at the recent PSP World Cup tournament, a move that was applauded by all in attendance. Vendors at this year's finale included National Paintball Supply (who provided excellent Empire Engage paint for the game), Tippmann Sports, Strange, J&J Barrels and Ben Tippmann Paintball, among others.

Wayne's World's fields looked better than ever, the crowd was bigger than ever, the prize package was richer than ever and the game as a blast. Congratulations to Wayne Dollack, his family and staff for promoting an outstanding game.
